MATLANA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by Justine Shapiro to support Our Looney Planet and other projects. Our mission is to create human connection, a radical goal in our increasingly fractured world.

MATLANA offers a return to stories that ignite the human imagination and offer glimpses of the world beyond our screens and windows. Our team draws on experience of off-the-beaten-track travel in over 100 countries, to tell often funny, sometimes poignant, stories of the human experience.

Through the conversations we have with the people across the world, MATLANA invites curiosity, and creates bridges across cultures and perceived divides. We take our audiences on journeys of sights and sounds through time and space, making strange places and distant people come alive.
